Plateau Gov Lalong expresses delight on the new Rotary District Governor, Elvis Chukwu at Investiture Ceremony

The Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has expressed delight at the emergence of a new Governor for Rotary International District 9125 in the person of Hon. Chief Elvis Chibiko Chukwu. Governor Lalong made this assertion giving his speech at the Investiture ceremony held on Saturday 14th July at Crest Hotel Jos.

Governor Lalong congratulated Hon. Chief Elvis Chibiko Chukwu for earning the confidence of Rotarians across the length and breadth of the Twenty Three (23) States and the FCT that constitute the District, commending his accomplishment of this feat because the Rotary International, is one unrivaled organization where leadership is earned through a meritorious succession process, that enables the occupant of Office to be thoroughly bred and qualified through the sacrifices they are prepared to make, having been exposed to it under the tutelage of a predecessor.

Lalong in his words said:
"I am particularly delighted that the new District Governor and the Team of Rotarians he would be leading, have found sufficient conviction to accept the responsibilities that have been bestowed on them. This is an eloquent statement that you are all determined to add value and make a difference in the quality of life of the least in society, through the sacrifices that your heart of love compels you to make."
Governor lalong went on to commend Rotary international for reaching out and touching lives beyond the confines of all ethnic identity and religious persuasion which is the first statement of human submission to the authority of God who created mankind, especially in this period of politics when impact myopically seems to be assessed on the basis of political patronage of associates and those within ones ethnic and religious confines.

"Rotary has in more than it’s one Century of existence, been addressing humanitarian and societal challenges around the world. The unique assemblage of professionals of diverse backgrounds coming together in a meaningful and life long relationship, that is always identifying the needs of the human person and setting out to address it, is certainly worthy of commendation, support and replication." Lalong said
The plateau state governor who is also a rotarian said he has signed up to be an Inspiration to someone out there and the Rotary Year Theme BE THE INSPIRATION is very apt as a charge to him and should be to all. Being the inspiration for peaceful co-existence, for socio-economic improvement, for humanitarian and community developments service and for all that pertains to the well-being of the human person will certainly make the society better for the good of all.

Giving the Rotary Leadership the assurances of governments support to make this Rotary Year and the many others down the line a success, Lalong further announced the donation of 200 Mosquito nets and a cash sum of N5millon to the organization.

He rounded of by congratulating all award recipients and honorees who have been recognized for the exceptional services to humanity and prayed that the awards and recognitions would further spur the sustenance of good work and to do more for humanity.
